Meet Coach Harry
Teaching the Game. Building the Athlete. Developing the Person.
Coach Harry Auster is a Beth Tfiloh Hall of Fame athlete with a lifelong passion for sports, competition, and youth development.
A multi-sport athlete, Harry played basketball, baseball, and soccer, and went on to compete as a collegiate tennis player. His experiences as both an athlete and a coach have shaped his belief that sports are about much more than winning — they're an opportunity to build confidence, resilience, discipline, and character.
Harry has led basketball clinics for children ages 7–12, helping young athletes develop strong fundamentals while creating a fun, positive, and encouraging environment where every player has the opportunity to grow.
Harry is passionate about teaching more than just basketball skills. He believes every athlete should develop a solid foundation in the game while also learning how to think about the game. Through skill-based instruction and purposeful repetition, athletes learn to play with confidence and intelligence. And as an orthopedic physician assistant, Harry brings a deep understanding of how young athletes move, train, and stay healthy.
Whether an athlete is picking up a basketball for the first time or preparing for the next level of competition, Harry's goal is the same: to help every player leave the gym more skilled, more confident, and more in love with the game than when they arrived.
With Harry's Hoops, Harry is excited to share his love of the game with the next generation of players — helping them build strong fundamentals, develop basketball IQ, and discover what they are capable of.
The Philosophy
Play Hard! Play Right!
Play Hard
...means giving your best effort, competing with energy, and embracing challenges — in every drill, every practice, and every game.
Play Right
...means respecting teammates, opponents, officials, and the game while demonstrating character, humility, and sportsmanship.
Character is the Foundation
Basketball provides an opportunity to build habits that last a lifetime. We emphasize middot — respect, kindness, teamwork, humility, responsibility, and good sportsmanship — because how you play the game matters most.
Effort is the Standard
Great players aren't defined by talent alone — they're defined by the effort they bring every day. We challenge athletes to compete with focus, energy, and determination in everything they do.
Development is the Goal
Every athlete is on a different journey. Our purpose is to help each player improve their skills, basketball IQ, confidence, and love for the game through consistent coaching and purposeful repetition.
Our Mission
To provide a positive, challenging, and encouraging environment where young athletes can grow as basketball players and as people. We believe success is measured not only by points scored or games won, but by the character developed along the way.
A Coach's Promise
Every athlete will be challenged, encouraged, and respected. We promise to coach with energy, positivity, and purpose — teaching the fundamentals of basketball while helping athletes build confidence, resilience, and character.
We will celebrate effort, encourage growth, and create an environment where every athlete feels valued and inspired to improve.
